Feline Urgent Rescue (FUR) of the Upstate is a 501c3 non-profit organization. Every penny donated to FUR of the Upstate is tax-deductible and goes toward the vet work of a feline in need. We are a no-kill shelter that loves each of our babies.

Feline Urgent Rescue (FUR) of the Upstate is an all volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to placing homeless felines in loving homes. Our purpose is to save as many cats as possible from lives filled with suffering and early deaths on the streets.

Cats that are tamed are taken in by FUR of the Upstate and go through an often lengthy and labor-intensive adoption process.

On the road to adoption, a rescued cat must first test negative for Feline Leukemia (FeLV) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). The cat is then fostered with one of FUR of the Upstate’s volunteers for at least two weeks as it receives the necessary vaccinations and is socialized. Young kittens receive three rounds of vaccinations, three weeks apart in order to fully protect them from diseases and illnesses. Every cat and kitten is spayed/neutered before being put in the cages at Petsmart. Every cat/kitten must be spayed/neutered before he or she is adopted. Healthy, social cats are then placed for adoption in the cage area at PetsMart on Laurens Road in Greenville, SC.

FUR of the Upstate s motto is “saving precious lives by helping homeless cats.” Saving each life is a big commitment, and requires assistance from dedicated volunteers, donations from supporters, and families willing to adopt a new feline friend. Can you help?
